Founded in the autumn of 2003 and headquartered in Kloten, Switzerland, Helvetic Airways has a destination network of over 30 popular leisure hotspots across Europe. The airline also schedules flights on behalf of the Switzerland-based Swiss International Air Lines and the Germany-based Lufthansa, ensuring an extensive network of destinations for travelers traveling across Europe. The airline boasts a fleet of 13 aircraft, comprising of 5 Fokker 100s, 1 Airbus 319-100 and 7 Embraer 190s, and has a staff of over 400 employees.

Originally operating solely from Zurich Airport, Helvetic Airways added a new base at Bern Airport in 2010. As well as domestic flights to and from Zurich and Bern, the airline's destination network includes regular and seasonal flights to French destinations, Spanish destinations and Greek destinations, while flights to other tourist hotspots in Cyprus, Ireland, Italy, Norway, Macedonia and the United Kingdom are also available.

Online check-in

Online check-in is available on all Helvetic Airways flights and can be accessed between 23 and 3 hours prior to the flight's scheduled departure time. The online check-in service allows passengers to select seats on board the aircraft and print out their boarding passes at home. Passengers traveling with an infant younger than 2 years cannot check in online.

When checking-in online, Helvetic Airways passengers are required to provide their name and flight information, select their desired seats and print out their boarding pass to present at the airport terminal before their flight. The boarding pass contains all of the information needed at the baggage drop-off counter.

Hand luggage allowance

Passengers flying on a Helvetic Airways flight are permitted 1 item of hand luggage for their journey. This item must be no larger than 55 x 40 x 20 cm in size and weigh no more than 5 kg. An additional personal item such as a laptop or handbag may also be carried on board.

Items of hand luggage that exceed the permitted size or weight allowance on Helvetic Airways flights may be subject to an additional fee and could be placed in the aircraft's cargo area if they do not fit in the overhead lockers or beneath the seats on-board the aircraft.

Checked baggage allowance

Passengers on a Helvetic Airways flight are able to check-in 1 item of baggage weighing no more than 23 kg for free. There are no maximum size restrictions on checked luggage, provided they meet the weight allowance. Passengers traveling with an infant may also check prams, buggies or child seats for free.

Bags that exceed the maximum weight allowance on a Helvetic Airways flight will have an extra cost per kilo, though the weight allowance can be increased to 32 kg during the booking process. Sporting and musical equipment smaller than 150 cm can be checked as normal baggage, though items larger than 150 cm will be charged extra per item.
