About Gol

GOL Linhas Aereas is South America's biggest low-cost airline and Brazil's second biggest airline in terms of fleet size and market share. Its headquarters and main hub are located in São Paulo. Founded in 2000, the airline commenced operations in 2001. Its partner airlines include Iberia, Air France, KLM and Delta Air Lines. It has a large fleet of 145 aircraft that currently fly to 75 destinations, the majority of which are within Brazil.

Argentinian destinations the airline flies to include the cities of Buenos Aires, Mendoza and Rosario. GOL Linhas Aereas also operates flights to Santa Cruz de la Sierra in Bolivia, Santiago in Chile, Montevideo in Uruguay and Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. Most of the airline's flights however travel to Brazilian destinations such as to Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. Other domestic destinations include Greater Natal International Airport, Palmas–Brigadeiro Lysias Rodrigues Airport and Brasília–Presidente Juscelino Kubitschek International Airport.

Online check-in

Passengers can check in online for their GOL Airlines flight from 7 days up until 45 minutes before the departure of the flight to domestic locations, and up to 70 minutes before the flight when travelling to international destinations. In order to check in online, passengers must enter their identification details as well as all other required information.

Once the check-in process has been completed, passengers can print off their boarding pass or have it sent to them to be printed at a later date. By checking in online, passengers can save time having to wait in long queues at the airport on the date of departure.

Hand luggage allowance

All passengers travelling on GOL flights are allowed to take 1 piece of hand luggage with them on board no matter whether they are flying domestically or to an international location. The hand luggage may not weigh more than 5 kg.

Liquids are allowed on board as long as the containers are not able to hold more than 100 ml. The total amount of liquid allowed may not exceed 1 litre and all containers must be placed into a re-sealable plastic bag. Hand baggage should be placed into the overhead locker above the passenger's head or under the seat in front.

Checked baggage allowance

The amount of checked baggage a passenger is allowed to take with them on GOL flights depends on the flight route they are travelling. For those flying on a domestic flight or to other destinations in South America, baggage weighing up to 23 kg is allowed.

Passengers flying from Brazil to North America are allowed 2 pieces of luggage weighing up to a combined 32 kg whilst when flying from other countries 1 piece of luggage weighing no more than 23 kg is allowed. The maximum size of any piece of luggage is not allowed to exceed 157 cm when all dimensions are added together. Passengers are advised to label their luggage with their name and address.
