If you’re short on time but still want to experience Berlin to the fullest, this post will tell you all you need to know and more!
Continue reading to find out what to eat and drink, where to shop, which museums to visit and where to go out at night. This is Berlin in a nutshell:
What to eat:
Berlin is known for Currywurst and Döner Kebabs , but the city also has several great Asian restaurants. If you’d like to try Vietnamese cuisine with a German twist, book a table at Lemon Grass, a beautiful restaurant located in the heart of the Friedrichshain district.
What to drink:
Club-Mate! This caffeinated soft drink is a hit with locals. Enjoyed on its own or as a cocktail, Club-Mate has relatively few calories and is not as sugary as other energy drinks. You can purchase this tasty beverage at any Späti.
What to do during the day:
Berlin has a lot of great museums, but we particularly love the Museum of Things (Museum der Dinge) in Kreuzberg where you can find an extensive collection of tacky everyday objects that are sure to make anyone feel nostalgic. And if you love music, you must visit The Ramones Museum in Berlin Mitte. In this neighbourhood you’ll also come across famous tourist attractions such as the Brandenburg Gate, the Reichstag, the Museum Island and the Gendarmenmarkt.
Where to go shopping:
Ever heard of a Späti? These conventional stores are open around the clock and sell all sorts of snacks and cold drinks. It doesn’t get more convenient than this!
What to do during the evening:
If you visit Berlin in summer, you’ll have plenty to do and see. Sit out on a terrace near Görlitz Park and enjoy an ice tea or watch a movie at the open-air cinema in Hasenheide Park. And if you want to explore the city’s nightlife scene, stop by one of the pubs in Kreuzberg or Friedrichshain for a drink or two.
