If you like to travel and love music, summer festivals are the place to be! The next few months are packed with an extensive variety of musical events, so we wanted to showcase some of our favourite festivals. You know, to make your selection process a bit easier.

Oh, and because some of you may be too eager to wait for the summer festivals, we’ve also added some music festivals for the travellers looking to rock out in the spring! Check out our list of a few of the top music festivals in Europe we think you’ll love:

United Kingdom

Glastonbury Festival

The Glastonbury Festival attracts more than 130,000 music lovers every year. It’s located in a tranquil rural area and goes on for 3 days. The music artists here do not just perform on stage. If you’re lucky, you can also see them in the audience, enjoying the other performers.

Organised in Castle Doningtom, Derby, this is the largest British rock festival.

Isle of Wight Festival

The Isle of Wight is home to this legendary festival since 1968. Although cancelled in 1971, it was brought back in 2002 and is now organised every year at Seaclose Park, in the outskirts of Newport.

Secret Garden Party

Paint fights, games arenas, big colourful tents, a lake and lots of psychodelic art in a 220 acre landscaped garden. It’s like a garden-party-gone-crazy with lots of activities for kids and adults and with an eclectic musical mix.

If you’re looking for an all-round bonanza with an eclectic offering of rock, pop, indie, folk, RnB and electronic bands, this is your festival.

Primavera Sound

Primavera Sound is one of the largest independent music festivals; hundreds of artists and thousands of fans gather in the Forum park once a year to enjoy this unique and exciting event. Ranging from indie and experimental, to hip-hop and folk…this festival is a must, especially if you enjoy alternative music!

It’s the largest Festival of electronic music in Europe! They promote artists that link creativity, new media and technology with music.  It’s definitely the place to be if you’re a fan of electronica!

FIB – Festival Internacional de Benicàssim

A four day festival hosted in Benicassim, that combines indie, pop and rock music with other activities such as theatre and film.

Bilbao BBK

The festival takes place on top of a hill with a breathtaking view of the city. It’s known for energetic live performances, great atmosphere and equally cool line ups.

Rome hosts a great music festival that goes on for two months, presenting both local and international performing artists.

Vieilles Charrues Festival

Rock en Seine

An eclectic rock festival that’s located in a huge garden in the outskirts of Paris. Thanks to the great line-up, good organisation, it’s becoming increasingly more popular with every passing year!

Hurricane Festival / Southside Festival

Hurricane is a alternative music festival that takes place near Bremen; the Southside Festival is a sister event that takes place at the same time in the south of Germany.

Rock am Ring

Rock am Ring and Rock im Park are also two almost identical events that take place at the same time, in different locations in Germany. Since 1985, these festivals are known to be one of the best festivals to go for fans of rock and metal music!

NOS Primavera Sound

Hosted in the beautiful city of Porto, this is the Portuguese version of Primavera Sound, the renowned summer music festival organised in Barcelona which we mentioned above.

Sziget Festival

Every year, this music event attracts more than a thousand people to the green island of Obuda, about 2km away from the centre of Budapest. The festival was awarded as the Best European Music Festival in 2011.

That’s why back in 2013 they decided to organize the same festival in United States and since last year they’re also organized in Brazil.
