Looking for an exciting getaway? Then one of our short breaks to New York could be just the ticket.
Losing yourself in the ultimate urban jungle is great fun: the city is as it looks on TV - fast, flashy and fabulous.
Short breaks to New York are ideal for anyone looking to take a bite out of the Big Apple, but be warned, you'd probably need months to really make a meal out of it...one city break to New York often leads to another. It's a love affair that's hard to explain but first-time visitors often become second-time devotees.
As a New York newbie, you're likely to have your hands full simply seeing the essential sights: taking the lift to the 86th floor of the Empire State Building; riding the Staten Island Ferry to see the Statue of Liberty; exploring the wonders of the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) or the Guggenheim; and of course, snapping up as many bargains as the purse strings will allow in Macy's and Bloomingdales.
There's also Fifth Avenue for glitz, Chinatown for sumptuous food, Times Square for sensory overload, and Greenwich Village, SoHo and Tribeca for coffee, bookshops, art galleries and retro clothing stores.
New York's dining, drinking and nightlife are legendary. Suffice it to say that if you want live jazz at 3am, a "bagel with lox" at 4am, and a Bud at 5am, then a short break to New York is the perfect choice.
