You’re most likely to find cheap flights to South Africa if you land in Johannesburg’s Tambo airport (JNB); flights to Cape Town International (CPT) generally cost slightly more. The third international airport is Durban (DUR).
When to go
“SA” has different climactic regions – Cape Town and much of the scenic Garden Route has a Mediterranean climate (mild, wet winters and hot, dry summers) while elsewhere rain generally falls in summer. The main tourist season runs roughly from November to March, getting very busy over Christmas and New Year when cheap flights to South Africa are hard to get hold unless you book at least several months in advance.
