About Air Greenland AS

Founded in 1960, Air Greenland is the country's flag carrier and has its headquarters located at Nuuk Airport, Nuussuaq and its main hub at Kangerlussuaq Airport. It operates many flights from its main bases at Copenhagen, Nuuk and Ilulissat, which are also the locations of its key cities. The airline has agreements with DAT, SAS and Icelandair. It has a fleet of 32 aircraft and helicopters that currently operate flights to 67 destinations, the majority of which are to domestic locations within Greenland.

Air Greenland operates a number of flights to airports in Greenland including to Kangerlussuaq Airport, Thule Air Base/Pituffik Airport, Aasiaat Airport and Sisimiut Airport. It is also possible to take a flight to European cities such as to Copenhagen's Kastrup Airport in Denmark and Hamburg's Fuhlsbüttel Airport in Germany. The airline additionally operates seasonal flights to the Icelandic city of Reykjavik and the Danish city of Aalborg.

Online check-in

Online check-in is available for all Air Greenland flights up until 2 hours before departure. In order to begin the check-in process, passengers must first enter their surname as well as either their e-ticket number or booking reference number which they will have received when buying their ticket.

Once the check-in process has been completed, Air Greenland passengers can either print out their boarding pass instantly or have it sent to their email address to be printed at a later date. By checking in online, passengers are able to save time avoiding potentially long queues at the airport on the date of departure.

Hand luggage allowance

The amount of hand luggage a passenger is allowed to take with them on Air Greenland flights is dependent on the type of ticket they have purchased and whether they are also taking checked luggage or not. Economy Class passengers can take 1 piece of hand baggage whilst Business Class passengers can take 2 pieces with them on board.

If also taking hold baggage, the total weight of the hand luggage may not exceed 8 kg and the total size may not be greater than 55 x 40 x 23 cm. In addition, Air Greenland passengers are allowed to take a small personal item with them such as a handbag or camera. Liquids can be taken on board but the containers must not be able to hold more than 100 ml.

Checked baggage allowance

The amount of checked baggage a passenger can take with them on their Air Greenland flight depends on the type of ticket they have bought. Economy Class passengers can take luggage weighing up to 20 kg whilst Business Class passengers are allowed up to 30 kg.

Children are also allowed the same amount of luggage as adults whilst infants can take luggage weighing up to 10 kg. Luggage that exceeds the weight allowance will incur a charge and no single piece of luggage should weigh more than 30 kg. Air Greenland passengers must ensure they label each piece of baggage with their name and address.
