How can I find hotels in Whitby?

The Yorkshire fishing port of Whitby is easily among the most photogenic seaside towns in the UK, if not the world. It's also the sort of destination where couples can find seclusion, or families can enjoy time together. If you want to discover for yourself, eDreams offers the perfect solution. You can filter for amenities, browse different neighbourhoods, and easily find the perfect room, at the perfect hotel. So get your teeth into our Whitby listings, and book a hotel. What must I see in Whitby?

Whitby isn't large, but it's got a lot to offer nonetheless. As you might imagine, most attractions are based around the sea, such as the Captain Cook Museum, which commemorates one of the most influential local sons. Head there, and follow it up with a trip to the Whitby Museum for a thorough grounding in local history. Whitby Abbey offers more romantic appeal, with its ruined walls, and clifftop setting. And Skinner Street in the city centre is the perfect place to stock up on local foods or buy a portion of fish and chips, to enjoy by the harbour. When you stay at a local hotel Whitby even has a thriving nightlife to dive into - including the Whitby Pavillion, which hosts major music acts on a weekly basis. But don't feel restricted. There's plenty to see and do within a few miles radius of the town centre. Walk all the way to Staithes (another scenic port), take whale-watching cruises, sail on Bark Endeavour (a recreation of Cook's flagship), or join walking tours to follow the path of Dracula as he made his way onto English soil. And to top all of that, there's Whitby Beach - as fine a stretch of sand as you'll find anywhere. So whatever you want to do, taste, or see, Whitby has it covered.

Where should I stay in Whitby?

Whitby isn't large, by any means, but the area you choose can make a big difference. For instance, if you're looking for a beachfront hotel Whitby has some great western areas to check out. Look for hotels in West Cliff on North Terrace or Cleveland Way, both of which stretch along the coastline. You should be able to find cheap hotels with sea views without any problems at all. Just to the east, central Whitby is more intimate, with narrow streets, and much more to see and do. If you're keen to see every sight, or spend time at the Captain Cook Museum, the town centre is definitely the place to stay. However, there are also some excellent hotel deals to be had on the eastern bank of the River Esk - an area which lies underneath the abbey and features some of the finest restaurants in town. It also includes Whitby Brewery, whose guided tours are a local highlight. Alternatively, you may want to stay further out, which isn't a problem at all. Suburbs like Ruswarp and High Stakesby are really close to Whitby itself, but offer a bit more distance from the crowds. In any case, choosing the ideal neighbourhood is easy with eDreams.
