Uzbekistan Airways

About Uzbekistan Airways

Uzbekistan Airways is the national flag carrier airline of Uzbekistan and was founded in 1992 after the breakup of the Soviet Union. It took over all operations that had previously belonged to Aeroflot's Uzbekistan arm. Its first flight was from Tashkent to London and it is currently owned by the country's government and headquartered in Tashkent, the country's capital. Its base of operations is at Tashkent International Airport. The company owns and operates a fleet of 34 aircraft. These are a mixture of Airbus, Boeing and Ilyushin planes.

Uzbekistan Airways serves nearly 60 destinations with both domestic and international flights operating daily. Its routes cover major airports in Europe, North America and the Middle East. Among its destinations are popular world cities such as Beijing, Mumbai, Rome, London, Tokyo and St. Petersburg. It also has codeshare agreements with Malaysia Airlines, airBaltic, Korean Air, Air India and Czech Airlines. The airline has yet to join an airline alliance.

Online check-in

Uzbekistan Airways flights do not offer the possibility of online check-in, therefore all passengers must check in at the airport. Passengers can check in for international flights from 3 hours before departure until 40 minutes before. For domestic flights, check-in depends on the aircraft in use. Passengers should check in 3 hours in advance for a flight on a Boeing or Airbus plane or 2 hours in advance for a flight on one of the airline's Ilyushin aircraft. Check-in for domestic flights closes 20 minutes before the flight's scheduled take-off time. The airline will not check in passengers arriving outside of these times.

Hand luggage allowance

Every passenger on an Uzbekistan Airways flight is entitled to bring 1 item of hand luggage onto the flight weighing up to 5 kg. The width, length and height of hand luggage items must not exceed 115 cm when added together. On top of the main hand luggage allowance, passengers are also permitted to take a camera, umbrella, cane, coat, bag of duty-free purchases, handbag, reading material, laptop or a briefcase at no extra charge. If they exceed these regulations, passengers' hand luggage must be treated as checked luggage and stored in the aircraft's hold. Depending on their checked baggage allowance, there may be an extra cost for this.

Checked baggage allowance

Passengers travelling in the Economy section of an Uzbekistan Airways flight have a checked luggage allowance of up to 20 kg while those in the Business class section have an allowance of up to 20 kg. Passengers in First class have an allowance up to 40 kg. All items of checked luggage must have a combined length, height and width of no more than 158 cm, regardless of cabin class. Children under the age of 2 are also entitled to check in a stroller or car seat. The airline will not accept any item of luggage that weighs more than 32 kg.
