Palu is the gateway for visitors wishing to visit the Central Sulawesi region of Indonesia. One of the driest places in Indonesia, it is backed by the Gawalise mountain range to the west and the Rovigadi mountains to the east. The city boasts a close proximity to the white sandy beaches of the Taman Ria, Tanjung Karang and Kampung Nelayan (also known as the Fishermen's beach). These beaches, lapped by crystalline waters, offer numerous leisure activities, water sports and excellent diving conditions. Visitors can also access beautiful coral reefs and tropical fish in Pulau Lingayan, further out to sea. One of Palu's other main attractions is the nearby Lore Lindu Natural Reserve.
Palu is a vast, sprawling metropolis used mainly by travellers needing a base to explore the surrounding attractions and beaches of the Central Sulawesi region. Visitors on a trip to Palu can enjoy basking in the sunshine on one of the nearby picturesque beaches, going diving or encounter natural wonders such as the Lore Lindu Natural Reserve and Lake Poso.

Palu Airport (also known as Mutiara SIS Al-Jufrie Airport or simply Mutiara Airport) is located on the Indonesian island of Sulawesi. There are currently no international flights to Palu, but regular domestic flights operate from Jakarta, Surabaya and Makassar.
There are a number of low-cost airlines operating cheap flights to Palu including: Garuda Indonesia and Lion Mentari.
The airport is about five miles to the southeast of Palu city centre on the outskirts of town. Palu is located on the Indonesian island of Sulawesi in the Central Sulawesi province.
There are several taxis that run the short distance between the airport and the city centre and you can organise an official pre-paid taxi to collect you from the airport. There are also shared minibuses which can be organised upon arrival.
