Where to book your hotel in Alicante

Choosing your hotel in Alicante is a choice between the historic centre, immediate beach access, or the wider suburban beaches.

The Old Town (El Barrio) and City Centre are the best locations for first-time visitors. Staying here places you within walking distance of the castle, the Explanada de España, and a vast array of restaurants and lively tapas bars. This area offers a mix of historic guesthouses and modern city hotels, ensuring you are at the centre of the action.

For beach lovers who still want to be central, the area around Playa del Postiguet and the marina is ideal. Hotels here offer quick access to the city beach, the port, and the main promenade, making it a very convenient and scenic base.

For a quieter, more relaxed, and family-friendly beach experience, consider the area near San Juan Beach, located a short tram ride north of the centre. This district is known for its long, sandy beach, modern hotels, and a more resort-like feel, offering a peaceful retreat from the city bustle.

Alicante is served by Alicante–Elche Airport (ALC), with an easy bus service running directly to the city centre and the main train station. The city's tram network is excellent for reaching the suburban beaches and coastal towns. The central area is highly walkable.

A unique event to be aware of is the Hogueras de San Juan (Bonfires of St John) festival, a major week-long celebration with street parties and firework displays that takes place around the 24th of June. This event causes a major surge in hotel demand and prices in the city centre. By avoiding this specific late-June festival, you will find a much more favourable rate.
