About TUI Fly Netherlands

Now known as TUI Airlines Netherlands, Arkefly was founded in 2005 in the Dutch capital of Amsterdam. Currently offering a connection network of over 50 destinations, the airline operated its first domestic flight in September 2005. Beginning life as a Europe-based service, the airline added long distance journeys to Orlando and Miami in the US and to Israel to its network in 2011. In October 2013, the airline shortened its name to simply Arke to reflect the company's partnership with the travel agency of the same name.

In 2015, it was announced that Arkefly would be renamed TUI Airlines Netherlands as part of the TUI Group's move to rename each of its 5 airline subsidiaries. The airline commenced operating under its new name in October 2015. By this time, flights to popular holiday destinations in Africa, South America, North America, Central America and Asia had been added to its network. Primarily based at Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam, the company fleet is made up of 13 Boeing aircraft.

Online check-in

Online check-in is available for all TUI Airlines Netherlands flights, and can be accessed between 7 days and 60 minutes prior to the flight's scheduled departure time. During the check-in process, passengers are able to select their preferred seats on board the aircraft, and either print out their boarding passes or save them to a mobile device to be presented at the airport.

It is also possible to check in directly at the airport terminal. Passengers wishing to check in at the airport are advised to arrive at the check-in counter at least 2 hours before the flight's scheduled departure to avoid long queues.

Hand luggage allowance

Passengers flying on a TUI Airlines Netherlands flight, can carry 1 item of hand luggage on board the aircraft. This item must be no larger than 55 x 40 x 20 cm in size and weigh no more than 5 kg. These restrictions apply to all flights and destinations operated by the airline.

Items of hand luggage that exceed the permitted size or weight allowance will be subject to an additional fee and may be even be placed in the aircraft's cargo area if they do not fit in the overhead lockers or beneath the seats.

Checked baggage allowance

Passengers on a TUI Airlines Netherlands flight, are able to check in as many items of luggage as they wish. Passengers are charged per kilogram of luggage they wish to check, with prices starting at 15 GBP for 5 kg. Checked luggage can be pre-booked during the booking or check-in processes. The maximum allowable weight for an individual item of luggage is 23 kg. Infants under the age of 2 years are given a luggage allowance of 10 kg. Special items such as sporting equipment or musical instruments can also be checked on board the flight. Wheelchairs, prams and baby seats can be checked into the cargo area for free.
