Founded in 2004 as the aviation subsidiary of Shanghai Spring International Travel Service, Spring Airlines is a Chinese low-cost airline headquartered in the city of Shanghai. With a modern fleet of over 30 Airbus A320 aircraft connecting passengers to over 30 destinations across Asia, the airline prides itself as being one of the greenest and safest in Asia, claiming safety awards from China's own Aviation Authority, as well as the Airbus Award of Excellence in 2011.

In addition to an extensive list of domestic Chinese destinations, Spring Airlines offers travellers direct connections to a number of popular Japanese destinations, Thai destinations and Vietnamese destinations, making the airline especially popular amongst locals and backpackers traveling around Asia. Flights to leisure hotspots throughout Taiwan, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Macau, Cambodia and Hong Kong are also operated by the airline all year round, with additional seasonal services constantly being added to the airline's network.

Online check-in

Passengers travelling on a Spring Airlines flight are currently unable to check in online. As such, travellers must check in at the airport terminal between 2 hours and 45 minutes before the flight's scheduled departure. The check-in process requires passengers to provide their booking reference code or boarding passes, travel documents such as passports or travel cards, and any required visa information. Luggage can also be checked onto the aircraft during the check-in process. It is advisable to arrive at the airport terminal as early as possible to avoid long queues.

Hand luggage allowance

All passengers travelling on Spring Airlines flights are allowed to take 1 piece of hand luggage on board the aircraft. The hand luggage may not exceed 40 x 30 x 20 cm in size, and is not allowed to be heavier than 7 kg for domestic flights, or 5 kg for regional and international journeys. Liquids in containers with a maximum capacity of 100 ml are allowed to be taken on board. All liquid containers must fit into a see-through re-sealable plastic bag and the total amount of liquid may not exceed 1 litre.

Checked baggage allowance

There are no limitations on the number of items of checked luggage passengers of Spring Airlines flights can bring on board the aircraft, however passengers must pay for each item of checked luggage. The maximum weight of each item of item of checked luggage is 10 kg for domestic flights and 15 kg for regional and international flights. There are no size limitations for checked luggage, meaning sports equipment and musical instruments can easily be checked provided they meet the appropriate weight restrictions. Items of luggage that exceed the weight restrictions will not be permitted on board the aircraft.
