Check-in with KLM

KLM hand luggage allowance

When it comes to hand luggage entitlements, KLM is generous. Economy Class flights allow passengers to bring one piece of carry-on luggage and one personal item, such as a small bag or laptop bag. KLM hand luggage size maximum dimensions are typically around 55 cm x 35 cm x 25 cm, and 40 cm x 30 cm x 15 cm for the additional bag. The weight limit for both bags is 12 kg for Economy Class. The larger bag is to be placed in the overhead lockers, and the smaller bag must fit under the seat in front of you.

Business Class passengers can usually bring two pieces of carry-on luggage and one personal item. Although the dimensions remain the same as Economy class, the total weight limit for business class extends to a maximum of 18 kg. If there isn’t enough space in the overhead lockers for the larger bags, you'll be asked to place them in the hold at no additional fee.

Adults travelling with infants on their lap are entitled to bring an extra carry-on bag for baby-care items, but this must be less than 55 cm x 35 cm x 25 cm.

KLM checked luggage allowance

The airline's checked luggage allowance is just as accommodating. The allowance for Economy Class passengers varies based on the route, fare type, and frequent flyer status. Generally, Economy Class passengers with a Standard or Flex ticket are allowed one checked bag of up to 158 cm and with a maximum weight of 23kg. For some routes, you can bring an additional checked bag. If you exceed the specified luggage weight or size limits, additional fees may apply.

Business Class passengers typically enjoy a higher checked luggage allowance compared to Economy Class passengers. Standard and Flex tickets allow Business Class users to bring two items of checked luggage, each up to 158 cm and with a maximum weight of 32kg.

For Light ticket Business Class passengers, one checked bag with a maximum weight of 32 kg is already included.

KLM passengers travelling with a baby are entitled to bring one item with a maximum of 10 kg if they hold a ticket type that includes checked luggage. KLM has a lost baggage policy in place to assist passengers in case luggage is lost or destroyed.
