KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, flag carrier of the Netherlands, was founded in October 1919. It comprises the world's oldest airline with the first flight made in 1920 from Amsterdam to London. KLM is a member of the SkyTeam airline alliance and its headquarters are based in Amsterdam Schipol Airport. The 30th of September 2003 saw the merger of KLM Royal Dutch Airlines and Air France the result of which was Air France - KLM, the largest airline in Europe. Together they offer flights to over 236 destinations worldwide and transport nearly 71 million passengers on an annual basis, making 2,500 flights daily.
KLM online check-in is available from 30 hours to 1 hour prior to scheduled flight departure. Passengers can select a seat during the online booking process, order a meal for intercontinental flights and print out their boarding pass. Alternatively, requesting an electronic boarding pass on mobile devices (smartphone, PDA, Blackberry or mobile) is available for many routes. Finally, for those routes whereby a boarding pass is not available, passengers need to print out their check-in confirmation and exchange it for a boarding pass at the airport. Those passengers with hand luggage can proceed directly to airport security whilst those travelling with checked-in baggage need to pass by the baggage drop-off point.
On KLM flights, all passengers are entitled to one item of hand luggage with the maximum dimensions of 55cm x 25cm x 35cm. A small personal item is also allowed such as a handbag, briefcase, camera. laptop, etc. In Economy Class the combined weight of the hand luggage and accessory must not exceed 12kg. For those travelling in Business Class an item of hand luggage, in addition to a smaller bag and one accessory (hand bag or laptop) is allowed. The combined weight of all items must not exceed 18 kg. The maximum dimensions of the smaller bag are 45cm x 20cm x 35cm.
On KLM flights it is possible to check-in baggage weighing up to 23kg in Economy Class. Those passengers travelling in Business Class are permitted two items of baggage weighing up to 32kg each. Similarly, Blue Silver, Gold, Platinum, SkyTeam Elite and Elite Plus members are allowed an extra item of baggage with the maximum weight for Economy Class passengers corresponding to 23kg and Business Class passengers 32kg. The dimensions of these extra checked-in bags must not exceed 158cm (height, length and width).
usually travel business class but this was adequate.
dropping bags with automation was easy and customer friendly.
Generally good. No issues. Headphones for the inflight entertainment was poor including the sound quality.
Inconvenient to have to spend the night in Amsterdam, otherwise a good flight.
Flight was fine. I was changing planes in Amsterdam, and found that the passport controls (required to change to one of the other terminals) were slow. The new gates were not in use, and so the queues were rather long.
Too expensive for the journey
One flight was by Ukraine International (codeshare with KLM) but this operator charges for diners and food - this was not made clear
Unless imppartial review of circumstances that led to cancellation of my childrens tickets is made, i remain totally confused, dumpfounded and dismayed at what happened' the poor, the insufficient advise given by your customer advise either out of lack of knowledge or infufficiient experience ! For which am told i i may h. ave to subsequently lose out. Am SHOCKED at how easily swiftly and shamelessly this may be allowed to happpen!!
Food/drink service on KLM was quite good. The staff was very cheerful and friendly. The airplane was clean/comfortable but chilly inside. The airport at Inverness is fine - small and easy to get around, as it only has 3 gates. Wifi service was pretty good, but lack of plugs limited how long we could use laptops. Didn't use restaurants/shopping, though it looked like there were only a few options. Check in was fine - very fast, helpful desk agent. Bus to Inverness city was quick and easy to use, though not too frequent. A 5-hour layover in Amsterdam coupled with fast public transport and an easy-to-use airport meant that I was able to use my layover to get out and explore the city, which was a better use of my time than sitting in the airport! No complaints about KLM other than that the price is a little high for the short flight time (though it was not me that paid but my company). Inverness was great, both from a business and leisure standpoint!
Just wanted to postpone my return but the problem was with the non refundable ticket, otherwise it was a good experience
Flight was delayed causing us to miss our connecting flight
China Southern operated flight so no online check in (lucky draw at the airport for your seat allocation) and limited food/drink selection
