The privately owned airline Airlink was founded in 1995 and is headquartered in Johannesburg, South Africa. It has codeshare agreements with two of the country's other airlines, South African Express and South African Airways. It is a member of the Star Alliance and operates out of its main hub at O.R. Tambo International Airport. To service its focus cities, the airline makes regular flights to Cape Town International Airport and King Shaka International Airport.

Subsidiaries of Airlink are Swaziland Airlink and Airlink Cargo. It currently has a fleet size of 43 aircraft that fly to 36 destinations in South Africa plus other cities in nearby countries. South African destinations include Durban, Pretoria, Upington and Polokwane. The airline also flies to the Botswanan destinations of Maun, Kasane and Gabarone as well as the Madagascan cities of Antananarivo and Nosy Be. Zambian destinations it currently operates flights to include Livingstone, Harare and Ndola.

Online check-in

Online check in is possible on an Airlink flight and allows passengers to print off their boarding pass from 24 hours up until 90 minutes before the flight departs. During the online check-in process, passengers are able to choose the seat they would like to sit in.

Once the check-in process has been completed, passengers are able to print off their boarding pass or have it emailed to them to print off at a later date. Check in is also possible via a mobile phone. If using this service, the boarding pass can then be saved to avoid having to print it off immediately.

Hand luggage allowance

All passengers travelling on an Airlink flight can take 1 piece of hand luggage as long as it does not weigh more than 8 kg and is no larger than 56 x 34 x 23 cm. The overall size should not exceed 115 cm when all dimensions have been added together.

Business Class passengers are also allowed to take an additional piece of luggage with them as well as a small personal item such as a handbag or laptop bag. Hand luggage should be placed in the overhead locker or under the seat in front of the passenger. Liquids in containers 100 ml or less can be taken on board.

Checked baggage allowance

The amount of hold luggage a passenger is allowed to take with them on Airlink flights is dependent on the type ticket they have purchased. Economy Class ticket holders are allowed to take luggage weighing up to 20 kg whilst Business Class ticket holders can take up to 30 kg.

Children who are paying 50% or more of the adult's price are also allowed to take the full checked baggage allowance. No piece of baggage may exceed 190 x 75 x 65 cm, which includes wheels and handles. Passengers are advised to label each piece of luggage with their name and address.
