About Fiji Airways

Fiji Airways was founded in 1947 and commenced operations in 1951. It is the country's national flag carrier. Formerly known as Air Pacific, the airline has its headquarters in Nadi, Fiji, with Nadi International Airport as its main hub and Nausori International Airport, its secondary centre for operations. The airline has a number of codeshare agreements with other airlines including Alaska Airlines, Soloman Airlines, Qantas Airways, Cathay Pacific, American Airlines, Etihad Airways and Air New Zealand. It also fully owns Fiji Link, an airline that flies to domestic locations within the country.

Fiji Airways currently has a fleet of 9 aircraft that fly to 17 destinations spread over more than 10 countries. Australian destinations flown to include the cities of Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne whilst the New Zealand destinations travelled to are Wellington, Christchurch and Auckland. The airline also services Hong Kong International Airport and Singapore Changi Airport. USA destinations flown to are Los Angeles, San Francisco and Honolulu.

Online check-in

Online check in is available for all Fiji Airways flights. In order to start the process, the passenger must first find their booking by entering their e-ticket or booking reference number as well as their surname. During the check-in process, passengers must check their flight details and then confirm that they are correct.

Once the check in process has been completed, passengers are able to print off their boarding pass or have it sent to their email address to print off another time. By checking in online, passengers can save time not having to wait in long queues at the airport on the day of departure.

Hand luggage allowance

Passengers flying on a Fiji Airways flight can take 1 or 2 pieces of hand luggage with them on board depending on the type of ticket they have purchased. Economy Class ticket holders can take 1 piece weighing up to 7 kg as long as it does not exceed 55 x 40 x 23 cm, while Business Class ticket holders are entitled to 2 pieces weighing up to 7 kg each, as long as each piece of luggage does not exceed 56 x 40 x 25 cm. Liquids are also allowed on board as long as each container is not able to hold more than 100 ml.

Checked baggage allowance

The amount of checked luggage a passenger is allowed to take with them on a Fiji Airways flight is dependent on the route they are flying and the type of ticket that they've purchased. Economy Class passengers on international flights are allowed to take 1 piece of luggage weighing up to 23 kg, while Business Class passengers are allowed to take up to 30 kg to the United States of America and Canada. Up to 40 kg when travelling to all other destinations is permitted by the airline. For domestic flights, passengers can take 1 piece of checked luggage weighing up to 15 kg. Passengers are advised to label their luggage with their name and address.
