About Biman Bangladesh Airline

Biman Bangladesh Airlines is Bangladesh's national flag carrier airline and has its headquarters plus main hub located in the country's capital city of Dhaka, at the Shahjalal International Airport. It also has smaller centres of operation at Osmani International Airport in Sylhet and at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chittagong. Biman Bangladesh Airlines was founded in 1972 and owned by the Bangladeshi government up until 2007, at which point it became Bangladesh's biggest public limited company. 14 Bombardier, Boeing and Airbus planes make up the airline's fleet, with the Boeing 737 and 777 being its most predominant means of transport.

Using this fleet the airline offers flights to more than 20 different destinations both within Bangladesh and internationally. The airline's international flights are mostly within Asia and the Middle East. Its only European destination is London Heathrow Airport. Some of the most popular Biman Bangladesh Airlines tickets are for flights to Kolkata, Kuala Lumpur and Doha. Its flights to Jeddah for the annual Muslim pilgrimage to Mecca are also very popular.

Online check-in

Although passengers can make a Biman Bangladesh Airlines online booking, it is not currently possible to check in online for Biman flights. Instead, passengers will have to check in the old-fashioned way, at an airport check-in counter. Passengers should present their passport, visa documents and ticket in order to do so. All check-in counters are open until 1 hour prior to a flight's scheduled take-off time and if passengers need special assistance, such as a wheelchair at the airport, they should let the airline know in advance. Once passengers have checked in they will receive their boarding card and can proceed to their departure gate via security.

Hand luggage allowance

Passengers with Biman Bangladesh Airlines tickets are entitled to bring 1 item of hand luggage on board the flight with them. This item of hand luggage is subject to a maximum weight limit of 7 kg in Economy class and 10 kg in Business class. It is also subject to a maximum size limit, which is a combined height, width and length, of up to 115 cm. Any hand luggage items which exceed these limitations will not be allowed into the cabin and will have to be checked into the aircraft's hold instead. There may be a fee for this, depending on whether it fits within the passenger's checked luggage allowance or not.

Checked baggage allowance

The class of passengers' Biman Bangladesh Airlines tickets determines what their checked luggage allowance will be. On Biman flights, Economy class passengers with Super Saver, Saver and Flexible tickets are allowed to check in 2 luggage items, each weighing up to 20 kg. Business class passengers with Saver or Flexible tickets are entitled to bring 2 pieces of checked luggage, each weighing up to 30 kg. The maximum size for checked baggage is a combined width, height and length of 158 cm. Infants have an entitlement of 1 piece weighing up to 10 kg and no larger than a combined width, height and length of 115 cm, as well as a stroller or car seat. There will be excess baggage fee to pay if a passenger's luggage is not kept within their allowance. The airline will refuse to carry any item of baggage that weighs more than 32 kg.

I was left stranded in London for almost 24 hours because of a delayed flight which meant I missed my connecting flight to Dublin. I have contacted you numerous times for reimbursement of my ticket and for the money spent in a hotel in London taxi food and for missing a full day because of your lack of respect for customers. Please get in touch. [email protected].
