Jetstar Airways is a low-cost airline from Australia and is a subsidiary of Qantas Airways. It was founded in 2003 to compete with Virgin Blue in the budget flyer category and has its headquarters located in Melbourne, Australia. Its main hub is at Melbourne Airport, however it does have several smaller hubs at Auckland Airport, Sydney Airport, Gold Coast Airport, Brisbane Airport and Cairns Airport. Denpasar, Adelaide and Perth are its primary focus cities.

Economy class passengers can bring up to 7 kg of hand luggage onto their Jetstar flight, while Business class passengers are permitted to carry up to 14 kg. This weight allowance also allows Economy passengers to bring 1 bag plus a personal item and Business passengers 2 bags plus a personal item. The maximum size for hand luggage is 56 x 36 x 23 cm, or 48 x 34 x 23 cm on New Zealand regional flights. Passengers will be charged a fee if their hand luggage weighs more than these limits when they arrive at the airport and be asked to check in their bag.
The airline offers a variety of different fares, all of which have different weight stipulations for what luggage they can bring on their Jetstar flight. There is no checked baggage included with Economy Starter fares but passengers can buy an additional allowance of between 15 kg and 40 kg. There is also a 20 kg allowance included with Starter fares that have the Plus bundle, a 30 kg allowance included with Starter fares that have the Max bundle, and Business fares. Any passengers travelling with small children can also take a stroller or car seat as part of their baggage. Passengers will have to pay a fee if they exceed their luggage allowance.
Thought it was going to shake apart on takeoff!
Plane was tired and in need of renovation. Seats were small in both width and legroom. No online check in and had to pay extra for luggage, which wasn't made clear before flights were selected. Pluses were flight departed and arrived on time and small airport at Da Nang meant we collected bags within 5 mins of landing.
Great flight, no complaints at all
No option to upgrade (paid for) even though there were seats available. Selected meal on Jet Star but not given on flight. Flight attendants dismissive and unhelpful
I am disappointed. I tried online to pay for my extra baggage. I made few attempts without success. The website was bad and slow.. On arrival at the airport I've to pay $40(Americans) for extra baggage. I'm not keen to travel with jetstar again.. I paid £95 one way bkk-Siem Riep. Others are cheaper with facility of extra baggage. So gutted!
Would suggest that you rename your service desk because service was the last thing I experienced at Jetstar's service desk, a no can do, put out attitude is what I received Wednesday morning after a long trip from the UK, thanks so much for stressing me out even more!!!!
All very good thank you.
Cancelled flight and had to stay an extra night. Was put up in hotel but was only in hotel for 4 hours before leaving to airport again for arranged flight. Poor compensation offer also
Being an international visitor who (like all, though some airlines more) had a luggage allowance of 20Kgs I was horrified and appalled to be told to pay a $15 surcharge for every kg over the 15kg allowance when travelling to Tasmania (it may well be the same for all inter-state flights). This is day-light robbery - having already paid a lot of airport taxes within the cost of the flight - and is holding the international visitor to ransom. If it is to do with weight on the aircraft then set a maximum kgs per person plus all their luggage - put them all on the scales and set a maximum of 120 kgs per person incl. My total would have been less than 90kgs whilst the obese family behind me in Melbourne airport would have averaged at least 130kgs each ..... but they did not get financially penalised because their luggage was only 15kgs. Its a joke, and has deterred me from flying again within Australia.
Seats close together
Great low cost airline
The flight was reschedule from 12:10 to 16:30 the day before the flying. However when we turned up at the airport they told us it was rescheduled again to 14:40, at which point we had missed our flight. We ended up taking to flights and arriving in Da Nang at 1am. Over 11 hours after we had expected to in the original flights
Flight brought forward. Then delayed apparently due to bad weather. Boarding staff unhelpful. Had paid for an 8.50am flight that didnt exist. No refund
if you insist on charging for the entertainment (which was awful anyway) ensure that you actually have the capacity to accept payments from my multiple payment methods which all failed. The guy next to me had the inflight meal which I am glad I avoided as it also looked and smelt awful. My boyfriend even reached to get his sick bag out of the seat infront and there wasn't one. I then tried to get mine and was met with a smell of stale sick and once again, no bag.
Very well organised and efficient airline
