About Cathay Dragon
Dragonair is a popular Chinese airline that was founded in 1985 and is headquartered at Hong Kong International Airport, which is also the location of its main hub. The airline's parent company is Cathay Pacific and it is a Oneworld alliance affiliate member. It has codeshare agreements with other airlines including Air China, Malaysia Airlines
and Shenzhen Airlines. With a fleet of over 40 aircraft, it flies to 44 destinations in China as well as additional cities worldwide.
Some of the Chinese destinations flown to include Shanghai, Shenyang, Beijing and Chengdu. Dragonair also flies to the Indian cities of Bangalore and Kolkata as well as the Japanese destinations, Hiroshima, Tokyo and Osaka. Dragonair airline currently operates flights to Da Nang International Airport and Noi Bai International Airport in Vietnam as well as Taipei's Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport in Thailand and Kathmandu's Tribhuvan International Airport in Nepal, plus Siem Reap and Phnom Penh in Cambodia.
Online check-in
Online check-in is available for all Dragonair flights as well as Cathay Pacific flights and flights operated by codeshare partners. During the online check in process, passengers can choose the seat they would like to sit in and add their frequent flyer number. Once check in has been completed, passengers can print off their boarding pass or have it sent to their email address to be printed off at a later date. It is also possible to have a boarding pass sent to a mobile device. Passengers who check in online will avoid long queues at the airport on the date of departure.
Hand luggage allowance
Passengers on all Dragonair flights, apart from infants, are allowed to take 1 piece of hand baggage on board as long as it is not heavier than 5 kg and is no larger than 56 x 36 x 23 cm, including any handles, wheels or protrusions on the suitcase. In addition, a small personal item is also allowed on board such as a camera, handbag or laptop. Baggage that exceeds the allowed size and weight limitations will be placed in the hold of the aircraft. Liquids are allowed on board as long as each container holds no more than 100 ml. All containers must be placed in in a re-sealable plastic bag.
Checked baggage allowance
The amount of checked luggage a passenger can take with them on a Dragonair flight depends on the type of ticket that has been purchased. Economy Class ticket holders can take luggage weighing up to 20 kg, Business Class passengers can take up to 30 kg and First Class passengers are allowed to take baggage weighing up to 40 kg. Infants are allowed to take luggage weighing up to 10 kg. No single piece of luggage is allowed to be larger than 203 cm when all three baggage dimensions are added together. Luggage that exceeds the allowed size and weight limitations will incur a fee.
