Our Top 5 Of Paradise Islands in Europe
Fifth Place: Mykonos
Mykonos! One of the absolute best paradise islands in Europe. Surely you’ve heard of the island of the Aegean. It is the most famous island and the most popular destination of the Aegean – for all those travellers who want to combine luxurious holidays with celebrations – you will find wonderful beaches and a spectacular nightlife. The Greek island is the answer to Ibiza.
Mykonos has exceptionally beautiful beaches, some award-winning restaurants and lots to see: expensive yachts, chic villas, luxury hotels and beautiful people sunbathing on the beach. You may even find movie stars and famous artists coming to the island.
Something very unique to the island is the architecture of Hora, port and capital with small white sidewalks, captains houses, old churches and fountains. Here you can spend nice summer nights during your paradise holiday, drinking a glass of wine while admiring the beautiful surroundings and planning the next days ahead.
You will also be fascinated by the island’s most photographed spot called “Little Venice”, with its 18th-century houses whose foundations are built in the sea. It is said, that many years ago, behind the old doors, were the treasures of pirates. Today, you’ll find restaurants and bars overlooking the glittering Aegean sea at dusk.
Fourth Place: Malta
On this island, which is our 4th pick for the best Paradise Islands of Europe, you will discover small, picturesque bays, swimming and snorkeling in the turquoise sea, and fine sandy beaches with lots of sun. A real paradise holiday awaits you in Malta.
The small island in the Mediterranean is a true melting pot of various cultures, religions, ethnic groups and people. It is no wonder, that the Carthaginians recognized the beauty of the island (or the good location?) many years ago, followed by the Romans and finally the Arabs. Until 1964, the island belonged to the colonial empire of Great Britain. Since then, it has been independent but the British influence is noticeable, as many British spend their holidays here.
If for you, part of paradise holiday entails discovering more islands, then prepare a trip off to the north to the sister islands of Gozo and Comino.
Valetta is the capital of the island and enchants every traveller with its beautiful architecture, narrow streets, great shops and impressive churches.
In addition, to Valetta, Sliema is also worth seeing. Here you can stroll along the lively promenade, take a colorful boat for an island tour or finish the day with white wine and seafood for dinner. An absolute dream.
Not to be forgotten is the former capital Mdina. It is located on a hill, with narrow streets, small churches and many historical treasures, which make the town so worth seeing.
