Getting to and from the airport

Flights departing from London

Gatwick Airport in London is the second busiest airport to serve the capital after Heathrow. It has two terminals: North and South. It is a single runway airport and is the busiest single runway airport worldwide. If you are getting yourself geared up for visiting the land of the Swiss (Swiss chocolate, anyone?), flights from Gatwick to Zurich will be the channel you need to navigate your way to chocolate land. While waiting for your much anticipated flight, you can cosy up in the plush lounges at the airport. These lounges can be found in both terminals.

Getting to London airport

Gatwick Airport is located in West Sussex approximately 45km away from London. To get from London to the airport, one can use the Gatwick Express. It is the fastest mode of transport. These trains come at intervals of 15 minutes. Gatwick Express takes approximately 30 minutes to get to the airport, so don't worry - you will get to the airport on time! Plan your journey well to catch your flight from London to Zurich.

As an alternative, you can use a coach. The National Express coach is found at Victoria Coach Station. They leave in 30 minute intervals, with an approximate driving time of one hour and twenty minutes.

How to get to the city centre

Flights to Zurich from London will land at Zurich Airport (Flughafen Zürich). This is the largest and main airport or Switzerland. Situated approximately 13km from the airport on the north end of Zurich, getting to Central Zurich has never been easier. The airport has three terminals; A, B and E.

To get from the airport to the city centre, you can use a train. You could also use a bus that you will find at the terminals. They are available at intervals of between ten minutes and an hour. You could also use the Glattalbahn tram service. Trams run in intervals between 7 - 15 minutes. Get to the city centre and explore!
