About Air Moldova

Air Moldova is Moldova's flag carrier airline and was founded in 1993, although its roots can be traced much further back to 1944. Its base is at Chi?in?u International Airport, a hub from which it flies routes to more than 20 destinations mainly throughout Europe. Among these routes are popular flights to Istanbul and Antalya in Turkey, Florence and Turin in Italy, Kiev in the Ukraine and Moscow in Russia. The company also runs a seasonal route further afield to Sharm el Sheikh in Egypt. The airline has a fleet of 6 aircraft that operate all of its flights, with most of these being Airbus aircraft plus some other Embraer E-190s.

Air Moldova has codeshare arrangements in operation with Utair Aviation, Ukraine International Airlines, Meridiana and Siberia Airlines. It has not become a member of any of the major airline associations, such as Start Alliance, SkyTeam or oneworld.

Online check-in

Online check-in for Air Moldova flights opens 24 hours before a flight is scheduled to leave and closes 2 hours before take-off. Online check-in is not available departing from Paris, Surgut, Madrid, Antalya, Florence and Heraklion, or on flights departing from or arriving at London. It is also not available for groups of passengers, children traveling unaccompanied or passengers who need special assistance. Passengers who have checked in online can check in luggage at one of the airport drop-off counters. This must be done a minimum of 60 minutes before a flight is scheduled to leave.

Hand luggage allowance

Economy class passengers can take 1 item of checked baggage, which should not weigh more than 23 kg. This may be increased to 2 or even 3 items on some routes. Economy Premium and Business class passengers can take 2 items of checked baggage, which should not weigh more than 23 kg.

On some routes this increases to 3 items. For all ticket types and routes, the maximum size for baggage on an Air Moldova flight is a combined width, height and length of 158 cm. Infants under 2 years old have an allowance of 10 kg and a folding stroller. If a passenger's baggage exceeds their allowance, they will have to pay an extra charge. The company will not accept any single item of luggage that weighs more than 32 kg. Sports equipment may also be taken as checked baggage without charge as long as it fits within a passenger's allowance. The normal maximum dimensions do not apply to sports equipment.
