About LATAM Airlines Brasil

The airline previously known as TAM Airlines is currently called LATAM Airlines Brasil after its 2012 merger with LAN Airlines. Headquartered in Sao Paolo, TAM Airlines was the biggest airline in both Brazil and Latin America, however despite this, it was never the official flag carrier airline of Brazil. TAM flights served domestic destinations in Brazil and international destinations in North America, South America and Europe. The airline also maintained a large fleet of nearly 200 aircraft, which was then appropriated to reflect LATAM Airlines Brasil' branding upon takeover.

LATAM's hubs are at Sao Paolo Guarulhos International Airport in Sao Paolo, Rio de Janeiro Galeao International Airport in Rio de Janeiro and Brasilia International Airport in Brasilia. Belo Horizonte, Florianopolis, Asuncion, Fortaleza, Porto Alegre, Miami and Recife are also focus cities for the airline. LATAM Airlines Brasil' UK flights land at London Heathrow Airport. TAM Airlines was previously a Star Alliance member, and joined Oneworld after the merger.

Online check-in

LATAM Airlines has online check-in facilities for all flights including routes to the UK. Passengers can check in using their last name and reservation code. The same service allows passengers to choose seats for their flights. Passengers can check in as early as 24 hours and as late as 1 hour before takeoff. Passengers checking in online with hold luggage can drop it off at one of LATAM Airlines' airport counters. The airline also provides passengers with the option of airport check-in at one of its counters, and strongly recommends checking in at least 1 hour before the flight if using airport check-in.

Hand luggage allowance

LATAM flights provide passengers with a hand luggage allowance of 1 bag and 1 personal item. The bag is not allowed to be larger than 55 x 35 x 25 cm. Economy passengers' hand luggage can weigh up to 8 kg while Premium Economy or Business class passengers can have as much as 16 kg. Hand luggage that is not able to fit in the cabin or items that exceed the size or weight constraints will be checked into the hold. This can incur a fee depending on the reason. Jackets, cameras, books, magazines, duty-free purchases, umbrellas and binoculars can be taken on board in addition to the hand luggage allowance.

Checked baggage allowance varies, but on LATAM Airlines' UK and European routes, it is as follows. On flights within Europe, Economy passengers are allowed 2 items with a total weight of 23 kg while Premium Economy and Business passengers are allowed 3 items, each weighing up to 23 kg. On flights from Germany, Economy passengers are allowed 2 items, each weighing up to 23 kg with Premium Economy and Business passengers permitted to bring 3 items, each weighing up to 32 kg. On flights from the UK, Economy passengers are allowed 2 items each weighing up to 32 kg, with both Premium Economy and Business passengers allowed 3 items, each weighing up to 32 kg. On flights from Spain to France, Economy passengers are allowed 2 items weighing up to 23 kg per item. Premium Economy or Business passengers are allowed 3 items each weighing up to 23 kg.
