Air Caraibes

About Air Caraibes

Air Caraibes is a regional carrier serving Guadeloupe and Martinique in the French Caribbean. Although it has a history dating back to 1969, it did not commence operations in its current form until 2000, when Air Martinique, Air Guadeloupe, Air Saint Martin and Air Saint Barthelmy all merged. It is currently based in Les Abymes, Guadeloupe, with operations at Pointe a Pitre International Airport, Martinique Aime Cesaire International Airport and Paris Orly Airport. Its fleet of 8 aircraft is made up of different Airbus and ATR models.

It primarily focuses on inter-island flights but also connects the French Caribbean with mainland France through transatlantic flights to Paris. Its 14 destinations are all holiday hotspots and include the likes of Port au Prince in Haiti, Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic and San Salvador in the Bahamas. It is a member of the Carib Sky Alliance, together with Winair and Leewards Islands Air Transport.

Online check-in

The airline offers an online check-in service. This service is available from 48 hours prior to the departure of an Air Caraibes flight. To use it, passengers will need to enter their last name and either their reservation number or their ticket number, which will allow them to print out their boarding card. Passengers are also able to check in at the airport. This service opens between 2 hours and 4 hours prior to departure depending on the route. Airport check-in closes 1 hour before transatlantic flights and flights departing Santo Domingo. For other routes, airport check-in is open until half an hour before take-off.

Hand luggage allowance

Hand luggage allowance on Air Caraibes flights varies according to the route. On the airline's transatlantic flights between Paris and the Caribbean, passengers can bring 1 item of hand luggage weighing up to 12 kg. On its regional Caribbean flights however, passengers can bring 1 item of hand luggage weighing up to 5 kg. The maximum dimensions for items of hand luggage are 55 x 40 x 20 cm. Passengers can also carry on board their flight 1 personal item such as a coat, umbrella, handbag, briefcase, a laptop or luggage of a similar size. These personal items must be as small as possible and no thicker than 15 cm.

Checked baggage allowance

Passengers' checked baggage allowance on an Air Caraibes flight depends on what fare type they selected when they made their booking with the airline. Sun class passengers, the equivalent of Economy, can check in 1 item weighing up to 23 kg. Caribbean class ticket holders, the equivalent of Premium Economy, can check in 2 items each weighing up to 23 kg. Madras class, which is the same as Business, permits passengers to check in 2 items each weighing up to 32 kg. All items of checked luggage are subject to a maximum combined width, length and height of 158 cm. Children under 2 are entitled to check in 1 item up to 10 kg plus a stroller. Passengers will be charged if they exceed their allowance.
