About Air Algerie

Air Algerie was founded in 1947. It comprises the national flag carrier of Algeria and its head offices are based in Algiers. In the beginning, they offered flights departing solely to France however, their flight network quickly grew with the airline now offering flights in top destinations across Europe, Africa, the Middle East and North America. Finally, Air Algerie has a 50-strong fleet of aircraft and the airline has code share agreements with Aigle Azur, Royal Air Maroc, Turkish Airlines and Tunisair.

Online check-in

Passengers on Air Algerie flights can check-in online from 24 hours up to 3 hours prior to scheduled flight departure. This service is available for all flights departing from Algiers. During the online check-in process passengers can select their seat, check-in their luggage in advance and order an inflight meal, amongst others. Travellers should be aware that they do not receive their boarding pass following online check-in but a receipt which should be exchanged for a boarding pass at the airport.

Hand luggage allowance

With Air Algerie, passengers are entitled to one piece of cabin baggage weighing a maximum 12kg and measuring no more than 35cm x 55cm x 25cm. Other personal items such as a hand bag, camera or other personal item are also included in the Air Algerie cabin baggage allowance.

Checked baggage allowance

On Air Algerie flights passengers are permitted one item of checked baggage measuring a maximum 158cm (height, length and width). The maximum weight depends on the passenger class of travel and flight destination. For domestic flights, Economy Class passengers are allowed a maximum 20kg, whilst Business Class passengers are permitted 30kg and First Class passengers a maximum 40kg. For international flights, the weight allowed varies greatly in accordance with the arrival destination and class of travel. In the event that a passenger item of baggage exceeds the aforementioned weight and dimensions restrictions, an excess baggage charge per kg will apply. If the baggage item weighs more than 32kg, it will be transported as freight.
