Air Italy

About Air Italy

Headquartered in the Italian city of Milan, Air Italy is a fully integrated subsidiary of the Italian airline Meridiana. Originally founded in early 2005, and commencing operations in May of the same year, Air Italy merged with Meridiana in July 2011 and doesn't promote services with its former name since 2013. With a fleet size of 13 aircraft, the airline operates a network of domestic and international destinations. These include popular European hotspots such as Greek destinations, French destinations and Spanish destinations, as well as services to the USA, Russia, Brazil and the Maldives. Although a majority of flights offered by the airline operate all year round, some international destinations are only offered seasonally. In 2016, direct flights to Cairo were added to the airline's destination network.

Online check-in

Passengers flying on a Meridiana flight are able to check in online between 7 days and 2 hours before their scheduled departure. This process can be completed on a computer or mobile device, with passengers able to either print out their boarding pass or store it on their phone or tablet device.

During the online check-in process, Meridiana passengers are able to reserve their preferred seat on board the flight for free. Passengers unable to check in online are able to check in directly at the airport terminal between 2 hours and 30 minutes for domestic flights and 2 hours and 60 minutes for international flights.

Hand luggage allowance

Passengers are allowed to take 1 item of hand luggage on board their Meridiana flights as long as the item does not exceed 55 x 40 x 20 cm in size and 8 kg in weight. An additional item such as a handbag, briefcase or laptop bag can also be carried on board for free, provided it is no larger than 40 x 30 x 15 cm. If an item of hand luggage exceeds the weight or size allowances, there is a chance it will need to be checked inside the hold and subjected to additional charges.

Checked baggage allowance

No item of checked luggage on a Meridiana flight must exceed 23 kg in weight or a total of 158 cm in size. Any items of baggage that exceeds 23 kg and weighs up to a maximum of 32 kg will be subjected to an excess baggage charge before being permitted onto the aircraft. Items weighing more than 32 kg will not be allowed onto the aircraft at all. Passengers traveling with infants aged less than 2 years are permitted to check an additional item weighing no more than 10 kg. Wheelchairs and baby strollers can be checked into the cargo area for free.
