Kuwait Airways

About Kuwait Airways

Kuwait Airways is Kuwait's national airline with its headquarters located at Kuwait International Airport. It is completely owned by the Kuwaiti government and currently has a fleet of 23 aircrafts. In total, the company flies to 34 international destinations spread across the Middle East, Europe and North America. Kuwait Aviation Services Co., Automated Systems Co. and ALAFCO are all prominent subsidiaries of the company.

Kuwait Airways flights from its main hub at Kuwait International Airport include Egyptian locations such as Alexandria and Cairo. In addition to this, several flights travel to Indian destinations including Bangalore, Mumbai and Kochi. By travelling with Kuwait Airways, London can be easily reached, as London Heathrow International Airport is its primary UK airport. London to New York is also an ever-popular route that links Heathrow and John F. Kennedy International Airport. The airline has codeshare agreements with Air India, Alitalia, Ethiopian Airlines, Etihad Airways, Saudia and Turkish Airlines.

Online check-in

Having completed a Kuwait Airways online booking it is possible to check in online from 24 hours prior to departure until as late as 1 or 3 hours before the flight departure time. The exact time depends on the departure location of the flight. In order to check-in, passengers must know their flight number and booking reference number.

Travellers who have checked in can print off their boarding pass, or if they require, amend their details and have their boarding pass sent to another email address. It is also possible to manage a booking by adding a specific service to the same passenger details if necessary.

Hand luggage allowance

The amount of hand luggage Kuwait Airways passengers are allowed to bring on board depends on the type of ticket they purchased. For First Class and Business Class passengers, 1 piece of luggage weighing no more than 11 kg is allowed, while for Economy Class passengers, 1 piece of luggage weighing no more than 7 kg is allowed.

In addition, a small laptop bag is also allowed to be taken on board no matter what ticket type was purchased. The maximum dimensions allowed are 56 x 46 x 25 cm. Additional items that exceed these limits will be weighed with the rest of the luggage and may incur an excess baggage charge.

Checked baggage allowance

The amount of checked baggage allowed depends on the type of ticket purchased and the route, for example, those travelling to and from the USA are allowed to take 2 items of checked baggage. For First Class passengers, each piece can weigh up to 32 kg. For Business Class and Economy Class travellers, each piece may weigh up to 23 kg.

For other destinations the same rules apply except Economy Class passengers are only allowed 1 piece of checked baggage weighing up to 23 kg. Sports equipment and musical instruments will incur a charge if they exceed the same normal cabin baggage size and weight restrictions.

While coming back from New York to Kuwait my seat was occupied by another woman passenger and I was asked to occupy another seat. This looked very bad to me as I specifically booked this seat keeping in view I am a diabetic. The seat allotted to me was not at all comfortable to me. The crew should be more sensible about this.
