United Airlines, also referred to as "United", is a leading American airline founded in 1926. In terms of numbers of destinations served, it is the world's largest company and a founding member of Star Alliance, the first and largest global airline alliance. In 2010, United Airlines merged with Continental Airlines but the name of the company was kept the same. It has a 719-strong fleet flying to 375 destinations worldwide and boasts a significant presence in the Asia-Pacific region. Their domestic route network is served by their regional branch United Express, featuring independent carriers who operate short and medium haul flights including top routes such as United Airlines flights from Manchester and United Airlines London flights.
Online check-in is available 24 hours prior to scheduled flight departure. Passengers can either check-in online at home and print out their boarding pass or opt to have their boarding pass sent directly to their mobile in the case of certain cities. Alternatively, they can print out their boarding pass at the airport kiosks. Those with only hand luggage can head straight to airport security whilst those with checked baggage can check-in their luggage with the ticket counter kiosks in the kiosk areas or at the United Airline check-in desks.
With United Airlines cheap flights, passengers are entitled to carry on one piece of cabin baggage for free in addition to a small personal item which can include a handbag, laptop or backpack etc. The maximum dimensions are 22 cm x 35 cm x 56 cm for hand luggage (including handles and wheels) whilst all personal items must not exceed the dimensions of 22 cm x 25 cm x 43 cm. All items of hand luggage must be able to fit in the aircraft overhead compartments or below the seat in front. All items of cabin baggage exceeding the aforementioned dimensions will be stored in the hold and an excess baggage fee will apply.
Finally, in addition to hand luggage and personal items, passengers may also carry on other smaller items such as a jacket, umbrella, food or airport purchases, and reading material, etc. Those passengers flying with United Express need to bear in mind that the aircrafts of the partner carriers are smaller and therefore have less room. As a result, some larger items of hand baggage may have to be stored in the hold.
United Airlines checked baggage allowance and service charges depend on the passengers' dates and class of travel. Those flying in United Economy and Premier Silver are entitled to checked baggage weighing no more than 23kg and measuring a maximum 158cm including wheels and handles (height, length, width). All the remaining classes of travel (United Business, United Business First, Premier Gold, Premier Platinum, Premier 1k, etc.) may check in items of luggage weighing no more than 32kg and measuring a maximum 158cm including wheels and handles (height, length, width). All items of baggage exceeding the aforementioned weight and dimensions restrictions will be subject to excess baggage fees.
Staff were rude, aircraft was dirty, I won't use them again.
I guess you get what you pay for. Only the Air Lingus plane at the end of our journeys was good, comfortable seating, but such a short part of the journey. None of the United Airlines seating matched up to Air Lingus, even over the shorter distances.
Much improved following merger with Continental
IAH is great to fly out of.
Had 2 hours to make a connecting flight at Dulles Washington. Dulles was heaving with passengers and queues were huge. Connecting flight was caught with < 3 minutes to spare
my sur name is not Bean
United Airlines 767, was old and had no inflight entertainment!! I would try to avoid United in future.
Never flying united airlines again. Flights were delayed which resulted in missing connection flight. Aircraft is extremely poor and outdated for long haul flights
My snack was dumped on the document i was completing without prior notice. This particular air hostess either lacks experience or was angry
All went well comfortable flight apart from turbulance Not airlines fault! Requested gluten free food on way out disgusting. Ok on way back.
Less than 2 hoirs to commute in Houston is a lot of stress !
Late arrival at Dulles so missed onward connection by under a minute despite alleged advice to gate that we were en route to it. There were some five of us in the same boat or more accurately on the same trolley...
It is an experience, I'll never want to repeat.
