Its headquarters are located at Baghdad International Airport in Iraq while its focus cities are those of Basra, Erbil and Najaf. Iraqi Airways is one of the Middle East's oldest airlines and a member of the Arab Air Carriers Organization. The airline has a fleet size of 31 aircraft that travel to over 35 domestic and regional destinations throughout the Middle East. Iraqi destinations the airline flies to include Al Najaf International Airport, Sulaymaniyah International Airport and Mehrabad International Airport. The airline also flies to the Indian destinations of Delhi and Mumbai as well as the Iranian destinations of Isfahan and Mashhad. Flights to Amman in Jordan and Beirut in Lebanon as well as Ankara, Antalya and Istanbul are also regarded as highly popular.
Online check-in
It is not currently possible to check in online for an Iraqi Airways flight. In order for passengers to check in to their flight they should do so at the airport. When checking in at the airport on the day of departure, passengers should arrive early enough before the gate closes. It is important for travellers to ensure they take all of the documents required including a passport with their photo identification plus the confirmation details of the flight they have booked. Passengers will receive their boarding pass after they have completed the check-in process and have dropped off their luggage.
Hand luggage allowance
Passengers travelling on Iraqi Airways flights are allowed to take 1 piece of hand luggage weighing a maximum of 7 kg and not exceeding 43 x 28 x 23 cm. In addition to this, smaller personal items are also permitted on board. This includes items such as duty free purchases, handbags or cameras. Hand baggage must be placed in the overhead locker while smaller items should be stored in the seat in front of the passenger. It is also acceptable to take liquids on board as long as the individual containers are not able to hold over 100 ml. Each container must be sealed in a see-through plastic bag.
Checked baggage allowance
The amount of checked baggage passengers are allowed to take with them on their Iraqi Airways flight depends on the route they are flying and the type of ticket that they've purchased. Those with Economy Class tickets are allowed 1 piece of baggage weighing a maximum of 30 kg whilst passengers with a Business Class ticket are allowed to take a maximum of 40 kg with them. Depending on the route of the flight, there may be limits on the maximum weight of specific pieces of luggage that are to be determined by the airport. Passengers should remember to label each individual suitcase with their name and address.
