Norwegian Air Shuttle is a low-cost airline that was founded in 1993. It has its headquarters in Fornebu, Norway, and is a member of the Airlines for Europe alliance. Norwegian Air Shuttle currently has a fleet of over 100 aircraft that service more than 100 destinations, with the majority of them situated within Europe, however, it does also fly to international locations such as the United States. Most of the airlines operating bases are in European cities such as in Oslo, Madrid, London and Copenhagen. London is the location of the airline's long haul hub while additional centres can be found in New York and Bangkok.
Europe is the destination for most of the Norwegian Air Shuttle flights, including Italian destinations such as Rome, Pisa and Venice, along with the Spanish cities of Lanzarote, Madrid and Palma. The airline also flies to a number of British destinations including its long haul hub at London Gatwick Airport plus the cities of Birmingham and Edinburgh. Transatlantic flights encompass the American travel hotspots of Las Vegas, New York City and Los Angeles.
For the majority of Norwegian Air Shuttle flights it is possible to check in online from 24 hours prior to the flight departure. Checking in online is available via a number of ways, such as SMS, were passengers will automatically receive their ticket a few hours prior to the flight departure. This electronic boarding pass will be sent to the mobile phone of the traveller.
Another way to check in is through the Travel Assistant app. This method also allows passengers to receive their boarding pass to their phone by checking in using the app. It is also possible to go online to check in and get a boarding pass sent to a mobile phone. For those who would like a printed version of their boarding pass, they can scan their electronic pass at the airport prior to departure.
On a Norwegian Air Shuttle flight all passengers are allowed 1 piece of hand baggage free of charge. The allowed weight of the luggage is dependent on the ticket type purchased. Premium, LowFare and LowFare+ ticket holders can take luggage weighing up to 10 kg whilst Flex and PremiumFlex ticket holders can take luggage up to 15 kg. For those travelling to Dubai, the weight limit is 8 kg.
The dimensions of the baggage must not exceed 55 x 40 x 23 cm no matter what ticket type has been purchased. Passengers are also allowed to take an extra item on board with them such as a camera, laptop or handbag. Baggage that does not comply with the size and weight limitations will incur a charge and be placed in the hold.
The amount of hold luggage passengers are allowed to take with them on a Norwegian Air Shuttle flight is dependent on the ticket tariff they have purchased. Those who have purchased a LowFare ticket are not allowed any free hold luggage, while LowFare+ ticket holders are able to take 1 free piece of baggage weighing up to 20 kg.
Passengers who have a Flex, Premium or PremiumFlex ticket can take 2 pieces of hold baggage as long as each piece weights no more than 20 kg. Hold baggage may not be larger than 250 x 112 x 79 cm. Passengers can also pay to take more baggage with them up to 6 hours before the departure of the flight.
very friendly cabin crew and a great service overall
Excellent service, way better then Ryanair
The flight was good and no bad experiences
London to Bergen - Gatwick ground crew didn't load passengers onto the plane correctly by separating boarding passangers. Caused a lot of stress for people boarding at the front trying to get to the back and vice Vera.
Very easy to check in straight forward service would definitely use again
Excellant cheap way to fly to America
the flight was really good. Very convenient that it goes straight to Fort Lauderdale. The only thing I could say for improvement was the price for the food. GPB 25 and food was really bad. But in all very happy!
I flew long haul from Singapore and this time a short trip inside Europe with Norwegian airlines. It's an A.M.A.Z.I.N.G experience. As an example we connected from Oslo to Asia on a full service airline that won the top award for Skytrax and 2016 and 2017. Yet we had a better experience on the low cost Norwegian airlines!
At JFK a very busy airport we were expected to do a check in on a machine then join a long queue to get a stamp which served no purpose then join an incredibly long queue for security. On board there were little to no vegetarian options. However the staff were incredibly professional and receptive and the flight was relaxed and overall a good experience. The check-in however was a bit of a joke.
Nice flight would be nice to be able to check in online though.
Good flight all in all
Very comfortable smooth journey.
Busy airport lack of space to sit or stand
Lovely plane smoothly through both airports
Queues at airport were busy
