Thomas Cook Airlines have been in business since 2003 and the company is run by CEO Jean Christoph Debus. Their main hubs are in Manchester and Gatwick Airport, but they also run out of Cardiff, Glasgow, Belfast and Stansted as well as other airports around the UK. In 2013 they merged with Condor, Thomas Cook Airlines Belgium and Thomas Cook Airlines Scandinavia to become one under the Thomas Cook Group umbrella. This, along with partnerships with airlines such as Air Seychelles and Bangkok Airways mean that it is a simple matter to book flights with both this airline and its partners for a seamless trip to almost any destination.
When travelling with Thomas Cook Airlines flights, it is possible to accrue frequent flyer points in the form of ePoints which can be exchanged for many products from their online shop. These points can be accumulated through any holiday or flight booked with Thomas Cook.
Thomas Cook Airlines online check-in is open from 24 hours to two hours before your flight is due to depart. The check-in process allows you to either download or print off your boarding pass which can be shown when you arrive at the gate. Please go to your departure gate at least 45 minutes before your flight is scheduled to leave, after dropping off any hold luggage in the dedicated drop-off kiosks situated in the airport.
If you are travelling with animals, are an unaccompanied minor or have fees to pay on any of your baggage you will have to go to one of the check-in desks at the airport instead of using the online check-in system. These are open three hours before your flight leaves, or four hours in the case of long-haul flights, but they do close promptly an hour before departure so please make sure you leave enough time.
The Thomas Cook Airlines baggage policy allows each person to take checked baggage of up to 15 kg, although you can purchase up to 10 kg more if required. This free allowance increases to 20 kg if you are travelling on a long-haul flight and 23 kg to the USA. If you have purchased a Premium Class ticket you may take 25 kg, but for the safety of the airline baggage personnel no single bag should be heavier than 30 kg.
The baggage allowance for FlexibleTrips packages varies up to a maximum of 25 kg, but your specific allocation will be clearly marked on your ticket. Each item of baggage cannot exceed 158 cm when adding together the height, width and length, and any bags that exceed your limits in either size or weight will have to be charged for as excess baggage.
When travelling with a child under two or an infant that will be seated on your lap, you will be allowed three of the following four items at no extra cost: a bag of up to 10 kg, a collapsible stroller or pushchair, a car safety seat or a travel cot. If the child has a seat of their own, a stroller or pushchair and a car seat will still be carried in the hold for you without charge.
A suitcase or bag with a maximum size of 55 cm x 40 cm x 20 cm can be taken on board as part of the Thomas Cook Airlines hand luggage allowance. This cannot be heavier than 6 kg if you have an Economy ticket, but the limit rises to 10 kg for Premium Class customers. This case must be able to be fitted into the overhead compartments, but passengers are also allowed another smaller item in addition to this. The smaller item could be something like a ladies handbag, a laptop bag, reading material, a coat, blanket or duty-free.
When travelling with infants, food or milk that will be needed for the period of the flight can be taken as well, but it must be carried within the adult’s 6 kg allowance. Because of the restrictions on liquids, the bottles containing the milk or water will need to be clear for security purposes and may also need to be tasted.
The regulations surrounding liquids also include items that are creams, gels or those in pressurised containers, and don’t forget that this will include such items as toothpaste, shaving gel, mascara and lipstick. Try to put as much in your hold baggage as possible, because any that you will be carrying into the cabin with you must be in containers no larger than 100ml. These containers should all be placed in a 20 cm x 20 cm plastic bag for examination at security.
As Thomas Cook Airlines flight destinations originate from ten different UK airports there are many alternatives, but these are currently the more popular routes:
TC flight as usual pretty good. An argument with two female passengers on the way home. TC stepped up and solved the issue
Delayed by over 4 hours.. food supplied inadequate.. information poor
The extra we had to pay to ensure we sat next to each other was £100 was we felt extortionate. We paid extra for priority boarding which was unacceptable because they started to let everyone on board at the same time. The portions of food were child sized portions and having to pay £3 for a cup of coffee was over charging
All good. Great price and flight times
Why are the flights to Madeira from Mancher airport so expensive? The luggage should be included in the airfare, why pay extra?
Include baggage allowance
The flight was awful as before we got on the plane we were asked to stand aside after queing with no explanation and allow other passengers to board this cause bad feeling and fighting took place on the flight staff didnt seem to handle the situation very well.
Very good experience. Will book with you again.
Thomas cook brought flight MT1016 forward by nearly 4 hours, it meant we stayed overnight (extra cost). The flight was then delayed by about 2 hours on the day due to Thomas Cook "mercy flight" and then missing take off time slot - very frustrating.
Very friendly and helpful flight attendants. Smooth flight in general. Toilets were clean.
entertainment not very good
Thomas cook, what can I say, would I ever use them again, NO Last week the flight from Manchester to Rhodes made me understand how battery hens feel (crammed in to such small seats with no legroom) 2018 & a flight of over 4 hours, with no seat back monitors, just a few dotted around, like planes of the distant past, entertainment if you can call it that was shown for about 1½ hours with no music channels. Also Thomas cook will persist in using double plugs for headphones, so you cannot use your own headphones without an adaptor purchased from them or headphones purchased from them “pay us or no fabulous entertainment for you” It gets worse the return journey was delayed by 1¾ hours, which the cockpit crew blamed on the Greeks, not even a glass of water or a soft drink for us waiting around in the stuffy atmosphere for such a long time, when they did the drink service I asked for a glass of water, the reply was you want to buy a bottle, I said no & eventually I got a half of a plastic cup of water, why would I want to pay £3.60p per litre for water? (£1.80p for 500ml selling on the plane) other things were priced in the same manner. Oh & zero entertainment on the return journey! Never again!!
On time, efficient and friendly air-crew, smooth and comfortable flight.
Flight was fine but priority package was ineffective beyond check in - no priority boarding and no luggage priority.
