London to Nairobi flights

Kenya Airways flies direct to Nairobi from London Heathrow's Terminal 4, and British Airways uses Terminal 5. Connecting flights from London to Nairobi run through Dubai or Istanbul, and some of them leave from Gatwick instead of Heathrow. The lowest fares begin at £276.

London Heathrow (LHR) is located 16 miles from the city centre. The Piccadilly line serves the airport from early morning until around midnight, complemented by the Elizabeth line and the Heathrow Express from Paddington, which takes 15 minutes.

London Gatwick (LGW) is located 29 miles south of the city. The airport is accessible via the Gatwick Express from Victoria station, a journey of approximately 30 minutes.

Flights land at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO), situated roughly 9 miles south-east of the city centre. To reach downtown Nairobi, you can take city bus number 34 from outside the terminal. Services run every 20 minutes between 6am and 9pm. Official airport taxis and private hire vehicles are also available, typically reaching the city centre within 15 to 30 minutes depending on traffic.

Entry requirements for Nairobi

British passport holders no longer require a visa to enter Kenya. The country has transitioned to an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA), which must be obtained online before you travel. Ensure your passport is valid for at least six months from your date of entry and has at least two blank pages for stamps.

Nairobi is the primary starting point for wildlife enthusiasts, with Nairobi National Park located just outside the city, where you can see rhino, lions, and giraffes.
