About Air Arabia
Air Arabia was founded in 2003 and is based in Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates. It was the first low-cost carrier to launch in the region and operated its first flight between Sharjah International Airport and Bahrain International Airport. In addition to a main base of operations at Sharjah International Airport (which is also its busiest hub), it also maintains centres at Borg El Arab Airport, Mohammed V International Airport, Tangier Ibn Battouta Airport, Nador International Airport, Fes Saiss Airport, Queen Alia International Airport and Ras Al Khaimah International Airport. The airline currently owns 35 Airbus A320 aircraft.
Air Arabia flies to more than 100 destinations spread throughout the Middle East, Europe, Africa and Asia. Some of its most consistently popular flights are those to Amsterdam, Tangier, Muscat, Antalya and Medina. It is a member of the Arab Air Carriers Organization and has three subsidiary airlines, which are based in Morocco, Egypt and Jordan.
Online check-in
Online check-in is an option for passengers travelling on Air Arabia flights. All they will need is their name, booking number, flight number, flight date and the name of their departure airport. For flights departing from Sharjah International Airport, online check-in opens 24 hours before the scheduled take-off time. For all other airports, it opens 12 hours prior to take-off. After checking in online, passengers can print their boarding card. It is also possible to check in at the airport between 3 hours and 1 hour prior to departure if a passenger is seated in Economy class. Passengers travelling in Business class can check in at the airport up until 45 minutes before take-off.
Hand luggage allowance
All passengers are entitled to bring 1 item of hand luggage into the airplane's cabin when travelling on an Air Arabia flight. Hand luggage items must be no heavier than 10 kg, and no larger than 55 x 40 x 20 cm, including wheels, handles or any other protrusions. Infants are also entitled to 1 item of hand luggage, which accompanying adults can use to carry items necessary for the infant's care over the course of the flight, such as diapers or baby food. Passengers exceeding this allowance will be asked to check their hand luggage into the aircraft's hold. They may also be charged a fee for this.
Checked baggage allowance
Tickets for an Air Arabia flight do not include a checked luggage allowance. Instead, passengers can choose to add a checked luggage allowance according to their individual requirements. Passengers can purchase in advance, allowances of 20 kg, 30 kg or 40 kg, however only a 20 kg allowance can be purchased at the airport. As long as they abide by their weight limit, passengers can check in an unlimited number of luggage items. No single item may weigh more than 32 kg, or the airline will refuse to carry it. Passengers will be charged if they exceed their purchased weight allowance.
