About Jet2
Jet2 is now officially lauded as the UK’s biggest tour operator: this means they're the people's choice for package holiday deals. Once upon a time, Jet2 was FKA Channel Express, a low-cost airline for charter flights across Europe. A whole 20 years later, the airline acquired the Jet2 brand from Leeds Bradford International Airport and used it to front its leisure airline routes out of Yorkshire and other airports in the north of England.
Today, Jet2 has operating bases all over the UK, including Edinburgh, Belfast, Stansted and Bristol, as well as Alicante and Palma de Mallorca. It now has a fleet size of 102 jets, serving 67 short and medium-haul destinations across Europe.
As of 2022, Jet2 had become the third largest airline in the UK, after British Airways and easyJet. In 2023, it surpassed TUI as the number-one tour operator for package holidays from the UK overseas.
Marketing its flights and holiday deals under the slogan of “Friendly low fares”, Jet2 is now firmly established as one of the go-to carriers for budget-friendly air travel, alongside the likes of Ryanair, Wizz Air and easyJet.
Jet2 check-in information
Jet2 enables you to check-in online from 28 days prior to or up to six hours before your scheduled departure. Online check-in on the Opodo website or app allows you to print a physical copy of your boarding pass or send it to your mobile.
If you don’t want to check in online, you can still head to the Jet2 check-in desks within the airport terminal. These desks normally open a minimum of two hours and 30 minutes prior to your scheduled time of departure.
It’s also possible to check in online and then take advantage of Jet2’s Twilight Check-In service, which allows you to drop your hold luggage off at your departure airport the night before your departure, so long as your flight is scheduled before midday.
Jet2 hand luggage allowance
On all Jet2 flights, you’re allowed to bring one piece of hand luggage on board for free. Obviously, there are some terms to this agreement: your hand luggage must weigh less than 10kg and the luggage should be no bigger than 56cm x 45cm x 25cm, inclusive of handles and wheels. Any hand luggage that’s larger or weighs more than 10kg must be checked into the hold, which could incur additional fees.
It's possible to pay for Guaranteed Cabin Luggage as an extra add-on when booking your Jet2 flights with Opodo. One small personal item such as a handbag, rucksack or laptop bag can also be brought on board, providing it’s small enough to be stowed underneath your seat for take-off and landing.
As always, all liquids, gels and aerosols packed into your hand luggage must be no more than 100ml in volume.
Jet2 hold luggage allowance
When you fly with Jet2, you’ll be allowed to check in up to three pieces of hold luggage per person, each weighing up to 22kg. This allowance excludes any infants flying with you.
If you're travelling with infants, for every 22kg hold baggage checked in you’ll receive a further 10kg allowance for free. This may be useful for checking in essential items for your infant during your trip.
The Jet2 luggage allowance guidelines do not permit any single piece of baggage to be checked into the aircraft hold weighing over 32kg. For every 1kg that exceeds your total weight allowance, you’ll be charged £12. If you decide to check in an additional piece of baggage at the airport on the day of departure, Jet2 will charge you £45, as well as any excess baggage charges.
