Tiger Airways, which currently operates as Tigerair, is a Singaporean regional low-cost carrier. The airline flies from a hub at Singapore Changi Airport and was founded in 2003 then flew its first routes in 2004. The airline was publicly traded on the Singapore Stock Exchange, although it was later delisted. It uses a fleet of more than 20 Airbus A320 and A319 aircraft to operate its flights.
The airline flies to nearly 40 different airports throughout Asia, including China, India and other destinations in the southeast. Some of its most popular routes are its flights to Bangkok, Hanoi and Jakarta. It is a member of the Value Alliance, which is the biggest alliance in the world for low-cost airlines. The Value Alliance also includes Jeju Air, Vanilla Air , Nok Air, Cebu Pacific, Nok Scoot and Tiger Airways' subsidiary, Tigerair Australia. It also previously had a codeshare agreement in place with Golden Myanmar Airways that ended in 2015.
Passengers can check in online for their Tigerair flight starting from 72 hours before takeoff, however, this service is only available on flights leaving Singapore and destined for Hat Yai, Yangon, Chiang Mai, Dhaka, Krabi, Hanoi, Phuket, Ho Chi Minh City or Bangkok. It is also not possible for passengers requiring special assistance or passengers travelling in a group of more than 10 people to check in online. Online check-in closes 1 hour prior to a flight's departure. Once they have checked in online, passengers will be able to print a copy of their boarding card. The airline provides drop-off counters at the airport for passengers who have luggage to check in.
Passengers on Tigerair flights are allowed to bring 2 items of hand luggage into the airplane's cabin. Each of these 2 items must be smaller than 54 x 38 x 23 cm and weigh less than 10 kg in total. If any passenger's hand luggage exceeds these limitations, either by weight, by being too large or consisting of too many items, that luggage will have to be checked into the airplane's hold and they will be charged for this accordingly. Small musical instruments can be carried as part of a passenger's hand luggage allowance. Larger musical instruments can also be carried in the aircraft's cabin, but an extra seat must be purchased in which to transport it.
Passengers travelling on a Tigerair flight do not have any checked baggage included in the price of their ticket. Instead, passengers who wish to check in baggage for their flight must pre-book it using the airline's Luggage Upsize service. This can be done at the same time as the passenger purchases their flight ticket or at any time up until 4 hours before their flight departs. If passengers' checked luggage is heavier than their purchased allowance, they will have to pay additional charges. The airline will not accept any single item of luggage that weighs more than 32 kg.
Overall, very good service on the flight. Staff were competent and friendly and attentive to our needs.
Basic airline but good flight & service
I think tiger airline provides safe aviation but very poor quality of cabin crew. The flight attendants were not professional and attentive at all. Tiny space.
Efficient and fairly comfortable.
Seat in front of me was broken so made for an uncomfortable flight.
Both flights good.
