Twenty years of expertise
Founded in 1999 in Silicon Valley by Javier Pérez-Tenessa de Block and James Hare, eDreams rapidly moved its headquarters to Barcelona in Spain. The following year, it became Spain's leading online travel agency before purchasing Italian company travelonline.it, thereby expanding into the Italian market.
With its excellent results, the company was bought up by various investment funds before merging with GO Voyages in 2011. This merger, coupled with the purchases of Opodo and Travelink, resulted in the founding of ODIGEO, Europe's largest online travel agency.
In 2013, ODIGEO group continued its expansion by acquiring Liligo, which became the European group's fifth brand. The following year, the company was listed on the Madrid stock exchange.
In 2015, Javier Pérez-Tenessa stepped down as CEO to be replaced by Dana Dunne, former Chief Commercial Officer at easyJet and CEO of AOL Europe SARL. Dana Dunne had joined the company in 2012 as President and Chief Operating Officer. In 2015, eDreams' facilities underwent extensive modernisation and the ODIGEO brand image was harmonised.
Currently operating in more than 30 markets worldwide, eDreams has adapted and reinvented itself to meet the needs of today's travellers, becoming one of the major players in online travel booking.
